hi kate,

glad that they tasted good! but sorry that the dough didn't come together easily. i wonder: sometimes really good sharp cheddar is dry and crumbly--was yours? also, was your butter room temp? then how long did you work/mix the dough once you added the flour to the cheese/butter mix?

if you don't think any of these things is the explanation, then i'm stumped! (was the room you were working in cold? a stretch, but...) if you're willing to try these again and the same thing happens, then i'd add cold water little bits at a time until the dough comes together. should help a great deal.

hope this is helpful. anyone else have thoughts?!

Stacie/Nicole/Brooke/Anyone
I tried to make this tonight and my dough just wouldn't come together. It was crumbly and sandy and I could get it to make a ball with some effort but it all just fell to pieces again when I tried to flatten with a fork. Any ideas where I went wrong? does this need water too? thanks
